I’m very lucky to do tract ministry on the street with my church. It’s very useful to have verses to hand for common questions that I’ll be asked in conversations

I happened to notice that 3 of verses defending the 3 most important foundations of our faith are all 3:16 verses, making it easier to remember where they can be found. I don’t believe that’s a coincidence

Firstly, the most famous 3:16 verse and perhaps the most well-known Bible verse of all – John 3:16, which tells us that our Lord Jesus died for our sins and is the only way to be reconciled to God

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life

Next is 1 Tim 3:16, which defends the deity of Christ. This is so important in an era when even clergy are chipping away at aspects of our Saviour’s deity like the Virgin Birth

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory

Lastly, 2 Tim 3:16 affirms that the whole Bible is true and God-breathed. Again, this vital truth is being eroded, even from within the church. Without the Word of God, what else is our faith based on?

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

The enemies of Christ will always seek to undermine these three key planks of our faith – that Christ is the only way to heaven, the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ and the authority of our Bible. These verses serve as our defence against these attacks
