I did think long and hard about the domain name for this blog. I wanted it to be easy to remember but also explain what’s important to me and my Christianity. Salvation lies at the very heart of our faith and is the reason that our Saviour came to die for us

So, the domain name, I am a sinner saved by grace, was born. Here’s why I chose it

I

Salvation is a personal choice. It is a decision which will ultimately have to be made by everyone when we die. It’s not a decision that anyone else can make on our behalf. We don’t have the decision made for us based on our place of birth, our family of birth or our upbringing. We have to take that step ourselves. Our Lord Jesus said:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

John 6:47

am

Being a disciple of our Lord Jesus is a continual process, hence the use of the present tense. Ephesians 2:1 tells us that we were dead in sin but once we are saved through the blood of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, we are born again with Him. Walking with Him involves a daily dying to self for we are purchased with a price (1 Cor 6:20).  In return, Ecclesiastes tells us that:

It is of the Lord‘s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness

Lamentations 3:22-23

a sinner

Because of the fall of the first Adam (Rom 5:12-14), sin entered the world and with it, death. The book of Romans tells we are all sinners:

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

Romans 3:23

saved

As a sinner, the book of Romans tells me that I will die. I need to be saved. I can’t do it on my own merits. I need a Saviour

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

Romans 6:23

by grace

Grace is given to those who are undeserving, who can’t earn it. The very God who made the universe was willing to take the punishment that my sin deserved in order that I might be saved and have a restored relationship with God. What an amazing Saviour we serve! Lord, thank you for your grace

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast

Ephesians 2:8-9

The domain name sums up the core of my faith and I look forward to sharing my thoughts with you
