The Word of God brings Salvation

So, how do we come to a saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ?

The just shall live by faith

Romans 1:17

Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God

Romans 10:17

These passages in Romans teach us that the fundamental doctrines of our faith and ultimately salvation come to us through the Bible. How fortunate are we to live in the church age when we have our own personal copy of the Bible, where we can read and know our Lord’s very thoughts. Ephesians 3:8 describes these thoughts as the ‘unsearchable riches of Christ’ Read more

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path

Just had to share some verses from my quiet time this morning. What wonderful verses from the Psalmist in Psalm 119:103-105

103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path

Psalm 119:103-105

I love the exclamation marks in verse 103. It tells of the joy in a Christian’s heart when reading the Bible. Reading that verse made my own heart jump with joy this morning. The Lord has blessed us with His Word to give us joy and as a guide to Salvation and for living a victorious Christian life. What a great Triune God we serve!

My three 3:16 verses

I’m very lucky to do tract ministry on the street with my church. It’s very useful to have verses to hand for common questions that I’ll be asked in conversations

I happened to notice that 3 of verses defending the 3 most important foundations of our faith are all 3:16 verses, making it easier to remember where they can be found. I don’t believe that’s a coincidence Read more

Eli Eli lama sabachthani

This is one of the most well known phrases in the Bible. Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34 record this as one of our Lord Jesus’s 7 utterances while He hung on the cross of Calvary. It means ‘My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?’

But turn with me to my favourite psalm. Psalm 22, positioned in the Bible just before the well-known soothing and reassuring psalm 23 Read more

The most important verse in the Bible

The Bible is a veritable treasure trove of God’s very thoughts (2 Pet 1:20-21). I have so many favourite verses and passages but I believe that our walk in this world can be summarised in one verse when our Lord Jesus says to the apostles:

He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

Mat 16:15

This is the most important question in life. In fact, if you can’t answer this question correctly, literally nothing else matters. This is a question that we shall all face one day and it will be asked of us by God Read more

The reason for the domain name

I did think long and hard about the domain name for this blog. I wanted it to be easy to remember but also explain what’s important to me and my Christianity. Salvation lies at the very heart of our faith and is the reason that our Saviour came to die for us

So, the domain name, I am a sinner saved by grace, was born. Here’s why I chose it Read more
